Yard Waste Recycling
Yard, garden and tree waste can be recycled into compost. In fact, putting it in your garbage is illegal in Minnesota. Leaves, grass and plant trimmings, along with some types of food waste, can be combined in a backyard compost bin to create a valuable soil additive for your lawn and garden. That is recycling at its best! Later use the finished compost to improve your soil or as mulch around plants.
City residents of Norwood Young America may bring their yard waste to 640 Tacoma Boulevard (pdf) (located in the Industrial Park).

The City of Norwood Young America has garden plots available for lease. We require a $10.00 (per plot) watering check payable to the City of NYA.
The community gardens could not have been possible without the help of the Central High School building construction class that built the garden plots along with the garden shed on the site. Funding for the building materials are acquired through a SHIP (Statewide Health Improvement Program) grant.
If you are interested in a garden plot or have any questions please feel free to contact City Hall at 952-467-1800 or email [email protected].
